Shipping Manager
Status: Salary, Exempt $60 - $80k
Reports to: Production Planner
Schedule: Monday - Thursday, 8 - 5pm and Fridays, 8 - 2:30pm

Warehousing and freight:
- Receive the product from the assembly manager and store in the FGI warehouse
- Ensure all job and shipping component labeling is correct
- Properly protect all product for freight and the jobsite
- Oversee packing and loading of trucks
- Order all trucks per project managements instruction
- Coordinate and order 3rd party warehousing when needed
- Keep min max material floor bins stocked for the department. Restock supplies as needed from the cage in coordination with the receiving manager
- Requisition non minmax supplies for the department
Project Oversight and ERP utilization:
- Prepare all packing lists in the system for outgoing shipments
- Correct shipping component lists as needed for proper labeling any pack list generation
- Systematically ship out all parts as they are physically shipped
- Coordinate with PMs anytime shipping instructions are incomplete
- Enter and manage backordered parts or shipping components in the system
- Close jobs in the system, coordinate with dept managers and receiving if any operations or material issues are not complete
- Issue(pick) any FGI that is built to inventory to orders as needed
- Preform regular cycle counts of FGI inventory and report results to finance and project management
- Write purchase orders for trucks in the system
- Ensure successful project execution within the department, meeting objectives, timelines, and quality standards.
- Coordinate workflow and resources to maximize efficiency and productivity.
- Oversees day-to-day shop production activities within one’s respective area of ownership to ensure that we are meeting or exceeding production expectations.
Team Leadership and Management:
- All staff of the shipping dept report directly to Shipping Manager
- Preform annual reviews for all direct reports
- Train staff on the skills required to work in the shipping dept. maintain a system of regular cross training to ensure the company has multiple staff trained on all necessary shipping skills
- Lead, manage, and inspire the department team to perform at their best.
- Provide guidance, direction, and support to ensure team members are clear on their roles and responsibilities.
- Mentor and coach team members, focusing on developing their technical and professional skills.
- Identify opportunities for training and growth, fostering continuous improvement within the team.
- Works with the team to train and oversee new employees on-boarding and development, communicating job expectations, appraising contributions and resolving conflicts where and when necessary.
Resource and Budget Management:
- Manage departmental resources, including materials, equipment, and personnel, to ensure optimal project outcomes.
- Work within budgetary constraints and provide input on cost-saving opportunities.
- Maintains forward awareness of critical production schedule deadlines, anticipating roadblocks and delays to proactively resolve issues in advance.
Compliance and Safety Oversight:
- Always maintain clean and organized workspaces in the department
- Oversee the use of correct use of Lock Out tagging for equipment in the department
- Always be aware of safety practices in real time in the department
- Stop any unsafe behavior immediately
- Train all staff on the company’s safety standards and practices upon hiring and refresh the staff often
- Plan ahead with the staff for any material handling that could risk injuries
- Discipline any staff that ignores safety standards and practices
- Promote a culture of see something say something to all staff regarding safety
- Ensure department operations comply with company policies, industry regulations, and safety standards.
- Promote a culture of safety and responsibility within the team.
- Adhere to safety protocols, including the safe operation of machines and equipment, and report any safety issues or concerns.
- Maintains a safe and healthy work environment by following and enforcing standards and procedures, complying with all legal regulations and OSHA requirements.
Quality control and Continuous Improvement Initiatives:
- Receive and inspect all incoming finish goods, report any quality issues to the assembly manager
- Perform final QC inspection on the product before it is issued to the FGI warehouse
- Lead and or participates on initiatives aimed at improving processes, increasing efficiency, and enhancing the quality of work produced by the department.
- Observes fabrication techniques and processes with a careful eye and works to improve them.
Required Skills and Abilities:
- ERP experience preferred but not required, internal development available for the appropriate candidate.
- The ability to read and understand 3D renderings, digital architectural drawings and custom millwork shop drawings.
- Knowledge of hardware and materials common in architectural fabrication.

- Digital Literacy - Proficient in use of electronic communication Email and Microsoft teams, Microsoft office suite, as well as Digifabshop’s/CWKA’s payroll and HR software platforms
- Knowledge of different materials and their handling requirements.
- Attention to detail and commitment to precision.
- Problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot issues as they arise.
- Physical stamina and the ability to lift and handle materials.

Physical Requirements:
- The ability to stand continuously for up to 2 hours at a time.
- The ability to lift items up to 75 lbs. frequently and repeatedly.
